{"id":1666,"date":"2021-11-23T00:17:24","date_gmt":"2021-11-23T00:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/?p=1666"},"modified":"2021-11-28T04:03:08","modified_gmt":"2021-11-28T04:03:08","slug":"wizards-bring-in-holidays-with-turkey-assist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2021\/11\/23\/wizards-bring-in-holidays-with-turkey-assist\/","title":{"rendered":"Wizards bring in holidays with turkey assist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As things start to feel a bit more normal amid the pandemic, the&nbsp;Washington Wizards&nbsp;and athletes from the&nbsp;Washington&nbsp;Mystics, Capital&nbsp;City Go-Go&nbsp;and&nbsp;Wizards District Gaming&nbsp;hosted their first community event since Covid-19 halted in-person interaction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Wizards\u2019&nbsp;Thankful Meals event provided essential holiday items to less fortunate residents in southeast Washington, DC. &nbsp;Community members arrived eager to pick up their goodies and take pictures with Wizards players as the team is currently off to their <a href=\"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2021\/11\/18\/video-washington-wizards-in-the-1-spot\/\">best start<\/a> since 1975.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Scenes from the Wizards Thankful Meals community outreach event. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NBA?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NBA<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DCAboveAll?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DCAboveAll<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0onICbiC3Y\">pic.twitter.com\/0onICbiC3Y<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Double Take Sports (@dbltakesports) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dbltakesports\/status\/1462929745495080960?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 22, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/monumentalsports.com\/\">Monumental Sports &amp; Entertainment<\/a> Founder and CEO&nbsp;Ted Leonsis&nbsp;made a financial contribution to&nbsp;support the outreach.&nbsp;In addition to a hot meal from&nbsp;Henry\u2019s Soul&nbsp;Caf\u00e9,&nbsp;the first 500 guests received a turkey courtesy of&nbsp;Bradley Beal.&nbsp;He was also assisted by&nbsp;student athletes from the Ron&nbsp;Brown&nbsp;College Preparatory High School.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants&nbsp;also&nbsp;received&nbsp;items to&nbsp;keep&nbsp;warm such as gloves, socks and beanies courtesy of&nbsp;Thomas Bryant,&nbsp;hygiene kits&nbsp;courtesy of&nbsp;Aaron Holiday and his wife Ashli&nbsp;as well as&nbsp;special treats&nbsp;courtesy of&nbsp;Kyle Kuzma&nbsp;and Goodies Frozen Custard &amp; Treats.
