The championship victory also cemented Becky Hammon\u2019s first year as head coach of the franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since taking over the franchise, Hammon has received several accolades to include <a href=\"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2022\/08\/27\/becky-hammon-named-wnba-coach-of-the-year\/\">Coach of the Year<\/a>, Commissioner\u2019s Cup Championship, WNBA All-Star Head Coach, and the #1 overall record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cObviously super proud of this group,\u201d Hammon said after the championship win. \u201cJust really happy for the girls overall. They stayed focused. This has been the goal since training camp. Luckily, I got a group of really resilient players and you know, I said it out there, but probably the biggest thing I\u2019m proud of is just how they have come together over the course of the past five, six months to really become a team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Becky Hammon on her 1st WNBA championship: \u201cIt\u2019s hard to put into words. Wilson\u2019s journey to this moment started when the franchise drafted her in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is amazing. I say it all the time, I wouldn\u2019t be where I am today without my teammates,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cBut winning a championship is something that no one can ever take from you and once you got that down, you are in the books forever. This moment right here, this year right here is something I\u2019m never going to forget and this is not going to be the first.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Major credit also has to go to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/sports\/annkillion\/article\/Aces-title-run-earns-WNBA-new-respect-rewards-17452642.php\"> Aces owner Mark Davis<\/a> who also owns the Las Vegas Raiders. His investment and support of the team and its players stands out among the other franchises in the WNBA. Davis\u2019 vision has helped turn the franchise around and set them up for a successful future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/LVAces\/status\/1572459490460717057\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was a special win for the Aces and the city of Las Vegas who now have their first championship in any professional sport.
