{"id":2181,"date":"2022-10-27T02:53:02","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T02:53:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/?p=2181"},"modified":"2022-11-06T02:04:28","modified_gmt":"2022-11-06T02:04:28","slug":"wizards-reuniting-gilbert-arenas-caron-butler-and-antawn-jamison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2022\/10\/27\/wizards-reuniting-gilbert-arenas-caron-butler-and-antawn-jamison\/","title":{"rendered":"Wizards reuniting Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler, and Antawn Jamison"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Some familiar faces will return to Washington next month when the Wizards reunite the \u201cBig Three\u201d of\u00a0Gilbert\u00a0Arenas,\u00a0Caron Butler\u00a0and\u00a0Antawn Jamison<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>to celebrate \u201cThrowback Night\u201d in recognition of the team\u2019s 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary since rebranding to the <a href=\"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2022\/10\/17\/wizards-roll-out-2022-2023-opening-night-roster\/\">Wizards<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The game will take place on Friday, November 18, when the Miami Heat come to Capital One\u00a0Arena. Tipoff will be at 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of \u201cThrowback Night,\u201d the team will recognize&nbsp;Arenas, Butler and Jamison in a halftime celebration for their contributions to the franchise. The trio played together from 2005-06 to 2009-10 and led Washington to three consecutive playoff appearances (2006-2008).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCelebrating the 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of the Wizards brand wouldn\u2019t be complete without honoring the contributions of \u2018The Big Three\u2019 and having them all together on the same night makes it even more special,\u201d Wizards President &amp; General Manager Tommy Sheppard said.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGilbert, Caron and Antawn represent a definitive era for the franchise and they deserve to be recognized for the excitement they generated on the court and the impact they had in our community, both of which led to a new generation of Wizards fans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arenas played for the Wizards for eight seasons, averaging 25.0 points, 5.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.\u00a0 Prior to joining the Wizards, Arenas was named the 2002-03 Most Improved Player with Golden State. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout Arenas\u2019 time with Washington, he finished top-10 in the league in scoring (2004-05, 4<sup>th<\/sup>; 2005-06, 4<sup>th<\/sup>; 2006-07, 3<sup>rd<\/sup>) and steals (2004-05, 5<sup>th<\/sup>; 2005-06, 2<sup>nd<\/sup>; 2006-07, 4<sup>th<\/sup>) and top-five in three-point field goals made (2004-05, 5<sup>th<\/sup>; 2005-06, 2<sup>nd<\/sup>; 2006-07, 1<sup>st<\/sup>).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In five seasons with the Wizards (2005-2010), Butler averaged 19.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game, and was named an All-Star twice (2007 and 2008).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamison played for the Wizards for six seasons (2004-10), posting averages of 20.8 points and 8.9 rebounds and earning two All-Star selections with Washington (2005 &amp; 2008).\u00a0He is currently in his first season as the vice president of player evaluation and fourth season overall in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/sports\/2019\/08\/30\/with-role-wizards-front-office-antawn-jamison-reinvents-himself-once-again\/\">Wizards\u2019 front office<\/a>, after spending last season as senior director of player personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trio recently recorded an interview with Wizards legend and former broadcaster Phil Chenier, which will be featured during pre and postgame coverage of Friday\u2019s game against the Indiana Pacers on NBC Sports Washington (the pregame show will begin at 7:00 with the game set to tip off at 7:30).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a hat designed by Antawn Jamison presented by FTX. A behind-the-scenes video of Jamison designing his throwback hat will be played during the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the game, throwback music will be played, all&nbsp;arena&nbsp;signage will be themed in the team\u2019s \u201cclassic\u201d style and DJ Kool\u2019s custom Wizards intro-video will be played. Fans will also be treated to a \u201cGet To Know Your Wizards\u201d video with a short feature on Jamison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the game, those in attendance can enjoy a postgame concert with R&amp;B artist and producer&nbsp;<strong>Teddy Riley.&nbsp;<\/strong>He will be joined by<strong>&nbsp;Dave Hollister&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>Joe<\/strong>.
