Several names have been linked to ownership bids including Magic Johnson.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of these ownership rumors are not publicly confirmed but during an appearance on the TODAY show, Johnson let it be known he is pursuing the Commanders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYes, our bid is in,\u201d said Johnson. \u201cWe hope that we win. We don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Straight like that from Magic Johnson himself\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HTTC?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HTTC<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MROLo8yFlx\">https:\/\/t.co\/MROLo8yFlx<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Double Take Sports (@dbltakesports) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dbltakesports\/status\/1643289346450006016?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 4, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Johnson\u2019s bid includes a partnership with Philadelphia 76ers team owner Josh Harris and billionaire Mitchell Rales. Their bid matches Commanders current owner Dan Snyder\u2019s $6 billion ask.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also noted that a NFL team is the missing link in the chain of sports teams he already owns. Johnson currently has a stake in the L.A. Dodgers (MLB), L.A. Sparks (WNBA), and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/11\/05\/sports\/soccer\/mls-cup.html\">Los Angeles Football Club (MLS)<\/a>. During his ownership of these teams, they all won championships: 2016 WNBA Championship, 2020 World Series, and 2022 MLS Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI got a ring in every sport but I need a Super Bowl ring. I would love to be the owner of the Commanders, to not only do great work on the field but do the work we can do with the city.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the <a href=\"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2023\/02\/18\/commanders-hire-eric-bieniemy-to-lead-offense\/\">hiring of Eric Bieniemy<\/a> as the Commanders assistant head coach\/offensive coordinator, the team is making moves to increase their chances of success. They already have plenty of young talent in Chase Young, Antonio Gibson, and Jahan Dotson to name a few. All they need to do is put the pieces together. The right selection of a new owner will be one of those key pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Magic Johnson is no stranger to success.
