Josh will be a great addition to the NFL,\u201d Commissioner Roger Goodell said. \u201cHe has a remarkable record in business, sports, and in his communities. He reportedly purchased the team for $6.05 billion with an ownership group that includes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/04\/magic-johnson-confirms-bid-for-commanders\/\">NBA Champion Magic Johnson<\/a>, Mitch Rales, and Harris\u2019 longtime sports business partner David Blitzer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harris\u2019 ownership group also includes local business leader Mark Ein, Lee Ainslie, Eric Holoman, Michael Li, owner of Range Group, the Morgan family, owners of Morgan Properties, the Santo Domingo family, Michael Sapir,&nbsp;Co-founder and CEO of ProShares,&nbsp;Eric Schmidt, former Google CEO and Executive Chair and Andy Snyder amongst others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement released by the Commanders shortly before the sale was approved, Harris said: \u201cFrom day one, it is our priority to deliver you a championship caliber team, and we will strive everyday to ensure that we are a franchise you can be proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Approved and expected to close shortly \u2705<br><br>A message from Josh Harris \u2935\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DcZisMAzKM\">pic.twitter.com\/DcZisMAzKM<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Washington Commanders (@Commanders) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Commanders\/status\/1682145466169843713?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 20, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This franchise is part of who I am,&#8221; Harris said in a press conference after the sale was officially complete. &#8220;But being a fan is not enough. To be successful, we need to win championships, create a positive impact on the community and create incredible memories for our fan base much like I had as a youth growing up in Washington.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harris\u2019 acquisition of the team ends the tumultuous ownership history of Dan Snyder whose tenure was riddled with accusations of mishandling finances and sexual misconduct.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the NFL\u2019s announcement of the sale, the league also released the\u00a0findings of the independent investigation conducted by former U.S. Attorney and SEC Chair Mary Jo White and her colleagues from Debevoise &amp; Plimpton into allegations of misconduct and financial improprieties made by former employees of the Commanders. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/commanders-dan-snyder-fined-60-million-nfl-investigation-finds-workpla-rcna95438#\">outcome of the investigation<\/a> found these claims to be true.
