The Washington Wizards endured a rough back-to-back at home, falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks on February 7 and 8. Despite standout performances from Jordan Poole and rookie Bub Carrington, Washington\u2019s defensive struggles continued to haunt them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jordan Poole had his best game in a Wizards uniform, exploding for a\u00a0career-high 45 points\u00a0in Friday\u2019s 134-124 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. His offensive fireworks kept Washington in the game, but Cleveland\u2019s balanced attack ultimately proved too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with\u00a033 points<\/a>, while Evan Mobley controlled the interior with\u00a027 points. Despite some flashes of offensive chemistry, Washington\u2019s defense allowed Cleveland to shoot over\u00a050% from the field, a trend that has plagued them all season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game also marked\u00a0AJ Johnson\u2019s first minutes in a Wizards uniform. The young guard saw limited action, logging\u00a0over eight minutes off the bench, but showed glimpses of his speed and athleticism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hawks\u2019 Offense Overwhelms Washington in Second Half<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, the Wizards returned to action against the Atlanta Hawks but couldn\u2019t keep pace with\u00a0Trae Young\u2019s offensive clinic. Young racked up\u00a035 points and 14 assists, leading Atlanta to a\u00a0125-111 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bub Carrington continued to impress in his rookie season, posting\u00a023 points, while Poole followed up his big night with\u00a021 points. However, Washington\u2019s second-half struggles resurfaced, as Atlanta pulled away late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With these two losses, the Wizards dropped to\u00a09-43\u00a0on the season. The team will look to regroup when they host the\u00a0San Antonio Spurs on February 10\u00a0at Capital One Arena.
