As the sixth Signature Event of the season, the tournament boasts one of the strongest fields of the year, headlined by\u00a0World No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who looks to defend his title and make PGA TOUR history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McIlroy, a\u00a0four-time Truist Championship winner\u00a0(2010, 2015, 2021, 2024), is chasing his fifth victory at the event\u2014something only 13 players in TOUR history have ever achieved at a single tournament. With\u00a0three wins already this season, <a href=\"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/15\/rory-mcilroy-completes-career-grand-slam-with-emotional-masters-win\/\" title=\"\">including\u00a0The Masters<\/a>, the Northern Irishman is in peak form and aims to extend his dominance in Signature Events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justin Thomas, fresh off a win at the\u00a0RBC Heritage, returns with momentum. Now ranked\u00a0World No. 5, Thomas has posted five top-10s in ten starts and leads the TOUR in\u00a0Birdie or Better Percentage \u2013 Fairway. A win this week would make him only the second player, alongside Scottie Scheffler, to capture back-to-back Signature Events in the modern era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Xander Schauffele\u00a0and\u00a0Jordan Spieth\u00a0add to the star power. Schauffele, the defending\u00a0PGA Champion, will look to build confidence ahead of his title defense next week. Spieth, who placed fourth at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, continues his search for a breakthrough Signature Event win and needs a strong finish as he plays out the final year of his Tournament Winners exemption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The field is stacked with talent and storylines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>44 of the top 50 players in the world<\/strong>\u00a0are in the field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seven past champions<\/strong>\u00a0of the Truist Championship, including\u00a0<strong>Rickie Fowler<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Max Homa<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Wyndham Clark<\/strong> return.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Five past FedExCup champions<\/strong>\u00a0are competing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Rising stars like\u00a0Andrew Novak, who leads the TOUR with four top-three finishes this season, and\u00a0Michael Thorbjornsen, a breakout performer from the Aon Swing 5, will look to make their mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set against the classic architecture of\u00a0A.W.
