The duo last played together in a final grouping earlier this season at the AT&amp;T Pebble Beach Pro-Am\u2014won by Rory McIlroy\u2014and will now battle for a solo title at another Signature Event. <a href=\"https:\/\/dbltakesports.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/10\/keith-mitchell-maintains-lead-after-rainy-round-at-truist-championship\/\" title=\"\">Keith Mitchell<\/a> who held the lead early has fallen down the leaderboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Straka, who has quietly put together a strong run in these elite-field tournaments, has four top-15 finishes in the first five Signature Events this year, including a T5 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T7 at Pebble Beach. It\u2019s been good this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the leaderboard is tight, Straka isn\u2019t shying away from the tension that comes with closing out a tournament. \u201cYou&#8217;re going to feel terrible while trying to do it, but that&#8217;s just part of it,\u201d he said. \u201cThat kind of makes it fun when you are able to pull it off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week\u2019s unpredictable weather and shifting course conditions have required players to remain flexible. This marks his fifth career 54-hole lead or co-lead on TOUR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt does get frustrating sometimes,\u201d Lowry admitted. \u201cBut I\u2019m in the final group tomorrow. I\u2019ve played pretty good golf this year. I\u2019m pretty happy with the way I\u2019m playing this week, and I\u2019m going to go out and give my best.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He credits his growth over the last two years\u2014especially since the 2023 Ryder Cup\u2014for helping him stay patient and focused. \u201cI&#8217;ve worked very hard,\u201d he said. \u201cObviously you want trophies, and that&#8217;s going to be my number one goal tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like Straka, Lowry noted the significant changes in course conditions throughout the tournament, especially with the wind and green speed. \u201cThe greens were a lot quicker today, especially towards the end,\u201d he said. \u201cThe first few days, I felt like they were quite slow. I thought I handled it pretty well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With several top-ranked players just behind them, including Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa, Straka and Lowry will need to bring their best once again to hold their position.
