The Washington Wizards have exercised rookie scale team options on Bub Carrington, Kyshawn George, Alex Sarr, Tre Johnson and Will Riley, keeping five members of their young core under contract for another season.

Washington picked up fourth-year options on Carrington, George and Sarr and third-year options on Johnson and Riley. The moves maintain continuity as the Wizards continue to develop a group that has already produced several individual milestones.

Sarr’s rim protection has put him in exclusive company in franchise history. On Oct. 26 at Charlotte, he recorded his 200th career block, becoming the only Wizard to reach that mark before turning 22 since the NBA began tracking blocks in 1973-74.

The two-time NBA Rising Stars participant was also one of just two players, alongside Victor Wembanyama, to average at least 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks during the 2025-26 season.

Carrington has established his own place in the team’s record book through his availability. According to the Wizards, he has appeared in all 170 games to begin his career, the second-longest such streak in franchise history behind Wes Unseld’s 238.

A two-time Rising Stars selection, Carrington is averaging 10.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists for his career while shooting 37.6% from three-point range.

George’s versatility stood out during the 2025-26 season. He was one of only four NBA players age 22 or younger to average at least 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal, earning Rising Stars honors. Through 122 career games, he has averaged 11.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

Johnson and Riley, meanwhile, enter their second seasons with productive rookie campaigns to build on.

Johnson averaged 12.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and two assists while shooting 35.8% from beyond the arc, earning a 2026 Rising Stars selection. He has made multiple three-pointers in 37 of his first 65 career games, including 18 outings with at least three.

Johnson is also focused on developing his defense. He recently discussed his efforts to improve on that end of the floor, an area to watch as he builds on his rookie season.
