Howard’s Marley Franklin Named NEC Golfer of the Month

Howard University senior Marley Franklin has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women’s Golfer of the Month, recognizing her dominant play throughout September.

The Los Angeles native has been on a roll to open the fall season, earning runner-up honors at the Bridgestone Collegiate Invite (Sept. 3–4) with a 4-over-par 220. Franklin followed that performance with another strong showing at the Johnie Imes Invitational (Sept. 22–23), where she carded a 4-over-par 148 over two rounds to finish inside the top 20.

Across eight rounds in September, Franklin posted an impressive 74.0 stroke average, leading the Bison and solidifying her place among the NEC’s elite competitors.

Franklin wasn’t the only Howard golfer recognized for standout play. Paris Fieldings (Chesapeake, Va.), Francisco Perez, Mathis Perroni (Metz, France), and Lena Durette (Scottsdale, Ariz.) all earned spots on the NEC Prime Performers list for their efforts throughout the month.

On the men’s side, LIU’s Arjun Singh Bhatia was named NEC Men’s Golfer of the Month.

The Bison are back in action October 4–5 at the Navy Fall Invitational, looking to build on a strong start to the 2025 season.
