The WNBA is bringing its All-Star festivities to the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time. The league announced on Tuesday that the Golden State Valkyries will host the 2027 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game at Chase Center on Saturday, July 31. The event will come during just the third season of the Valkyries franchise.

The announcement adds another major milestone for Golden State, which has quickly built one of the league’s most energized fan bases since joining the WNBA.

“Hosting AT&T WNBA All-Star in only our third season is an incredible honor and a reflection of everything this fanbase, this region, and this organization have built together,” Valkyries President Jess Smith said in the announcement.

Commissioner Cathy Engelbert also pointed to the response the franchise has received throughout the Bay Area since the Valkyries were announced as an expansion team in 2023.

“Valkyries fans have embraced this team with an extraordinary level of passion and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to see that energy on full display for an unforgettable All-Star weekend next summer,” Engelbert said.

The weekend will begin Friday, July 30, with the Kia WNBA Shooting Stars and State Farm WNBA 3-Point Contest at Chase Center. Those events will air on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET.

WNBA Live presented by AWS will also return for its sixth year at Moscone Center, while additional community events, fan experiences, watch parties and programming are planned throughout the Bay Area.

The All-Star Game will tip off Saturday, July 31, at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

The 2027 event will follow this year’s All-Star Weekend in Chicago, where the league’s top players gathered at the United Center for the 2026 festivities.

The Bay Area has become a frequent destination for major sporting events in recent years, including NBA All-Star Weekend, the Super Bowl and FIFA World Cup matches. The addition of WNBA All-Star Weekend gives the region another opportunity to showcase its growing presence in women’s sports.
