Washington Mystics standouts Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen have been added to the 2026 USA Women’s National Team roster ahead of the FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin, USA Basketball announced Thursday.
The latest honor adds to an impressive start to their professional careers for the Mystics duo, who have both earned WNBA All-Star selections in each of their first two seasons.
Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen replace Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson, who are no longer able to compete due to health reasons.
The selection marks Citron’s first appearance with the USA Women’s National Team. The Mystics selected her No. 3 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft following her collegiate career at Notre Dame. Sonia Citron previously participated in the December 2025 Women’s National Team Training Camp and won gold with USA Basketball at the 2021 U19 World Cup and 2019 U16 level.
Iriafen made her USA Basketball debut earlier this year at the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she averaged 5.4 points and 4.2 rebounds across five games. She played collegiately at Stanford and USC before Washington selected her No. 4 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
The additions give the Mystics two representatives on a U.S. team seeking its fifth consecutive World Cup championship and 12th overall.
Team USA opens group play against China on Sept. 4 before facing Italy on Sept. 6 and Czechia on Sept. 7.
