Georgetown found an early answer against No. 10 Lehigh, but the Mountain Hawks eventually created too much separation.
The Hoyas fell 45-14 Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field in their 2026 opener, as Lehigh piled up 573 total yards and improved to 2-0. Georgetown finished with 239 yards of offense and dropped to 0-1 overall in Patriot League play.
Lehigh struck first on a four-yard touchdown run by Luke Yoder, but Georgetown responded in the second quarter with a defensive score. Brian Allen forced a fumble, and Michael Bonsu recovered it and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 7.
From there, Lehigh took control.
Yoder scored twice more before halftime, on a 20-yard run and a seven-yard reception, as the Mountain Hawks built a 24-7 advantage. He eventually finished with 120 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 17 carries, along with a receiving touchdown.
Quarterback Hayden Johnson also produced a career day for Lehigh, completing 16 of 19 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Feaster led the receiving corps with four catches for 113 yards.
Georgetown’s defense did manage to create opportunities. The Hoyas forced and recovered three fumbles, and Brian Allen led the team with 14 tackles. But Lehigh’s ability to sustain drives proved difficult to overcome. The Mountain Hawks finished with 29 first downs and more than 40 minutes of possession.
Offensively, Jack Johnson led Georgetown with 46 rushing yards, including a 38-yard run. Jayvin Pyle-Thompson caught four passes for 56 yards, while Jonathan Alexander had four receptions for 33 yards and scored Georgetown’s second touchdown on a fourth-quarter pass.
That late score made the final 45-14 after Lehigh had already put the game out of reach with two fourth-quarter touchdowns.
For Georgetown, the opener offered some defensive flashes, particularly the three forced turnovers, but also showed the challenge of containing one of the Patriot League’s strongest teams. Lehigh has now won 19 consecutive regular-season games and has beaten Georgetown in 23 of 25 meetings since the Hoyas joined the Patriot League in 2001.
Georgetown next travels to Richmond for a Sept. 19 matchup with the Spiders.
