Maryland volleyball continued its strong start to the season with a 3-0 sweep of George Mason in College Park.
The Terps controlled the match from start to finish, winning 25-14, 25-10 and 25-12 to improve to 4-1 and earn their third straight victory. Maryland hit .400 with just five attack errors while holding George Mason to a -.061 hitting percentage. The Terps also recorded a season-high 10 blocks.
Haley Melby led the Terps with 13 kills, while Sydney Bryant added seven. Freshman Ava Brown finished with six kills and helped anchor a Maryland front line that consistently disrupted George Mason at the net.
After the match, Terps head coach Adam Hughes credited his team’s preparation for George Mason’s strength from the service line and its continued improvement in serve receive. Strong passing helped the Terps stay in system and create more offensive opportunities.
Hughes also pointed to Maryland’s blocking performance and the impact Brown is already making with her physicality at the net.
