The New York Giants (2-1) needed some fourth-quarter magic to keep their winning streak alive against the Dallas Cowboys (2-1) during Monday Night Football. But things didn’t go their way as the Giants fell 23-16 to their NFC East rival.
The Giants dominated the game, thanks to Saquan Barkley, who scored on a 36-yard run to give the Giants a brief 13-6 lead.
However, the Cowboys started their comeback in the third quarter when running back Ezekiel Elliot scored a touchdown. Cee Dee Lamb also came up big for the Cowboys, finishing the game with 87 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Graham Gano hit a field goal to keep the Giants in the game with three minutes left, but the Cowboys took complete control and put the Giants away for good.
Cowboys quarterback, Cooper Rush, looked solid in his second start filling in for Dak Prescott and threw for 215 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions. Tony Pollard also had a strong performance rushing for 105 yards.
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones had an up and down game; though Jones threw 20/37 for 196 yards, he also threw one interception to Trevon Diggs. Furthermore, Dallas’ defense pestered Jones, sacking him five times throughout the contest.
The Cowboys will try to get another win when they return home against the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
The New York Giants will look to bounce back against the Chicago Bears at home as well.
