The Washington Wizards will celebrate the culture, traditions and achievements of those with Spanish-speaking roots from the nations within Central America, South America and the Caribbean during the Wizards’ “Noche Wizards” Night on Tuesday, March 14 when the team faces the Detroit Pistons.
As part of the celebration, prior to the game, Guatemalan artist, Juan Pineda, will be painting live on the concourse. A headshot portrait gallery of Monumental Sports and Entertainment (MSE) Employees of Latin and Hispanic heritage will also be displayed.
Latin and Hispanic heritage facts will be displayed on all LED signage at the end of timeouts and “Noche Wizards” animation will be displayed. During the game, a ticket giveaway for Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro, who will be performing at Capital One Arena on March 19, will take place. Throughout the game, a short video of MSE employees of Latin and Hispanic heritage will be played.
Fans will also be treated to a halftime performance by Pa’lante Dance Company and to get fans into the spirit, Wizards entertainer, DJ Heat, will play Hispanic/Latin music throughout the game. Fox 5’s Jeannette Reyes will present the game ball and Keylin Perez, the first Guatemalan woman to be named Miss Coppin State, will be in attendance.
