After nearly three years without a PGA Tour victory, Justin Thomas reminded the golf world exactly who he is.
The two-time major champion clinched a thrilling victory at the 2025 RBC Heritage Tournament. Just a week after Rory McIlroy’s comeback at the Masters, the RBC Heritage delivered another sudden death playoff with Thomas defeating Andrew Novak at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Both players finished regulation at 17-under-par 267, but it was Thomas who sealed the deal with a 21-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole.
“This one means a lot,” Thomas said after the win. “I’ve been grinding and staying patient. To see the work pay off, especially in this kind of fashion, is incredibly rewarding.”
The win marks Thomas’ first PGA Tour victory since the 2022 PGA Championship, snapping a winless drought that spanned nearly three years. The victory came with a $3.6 million prize from the tournament’s $20 million purse and reasserts Thomas as one of the Tour’s elite.
For much of the final round, it looked like Novak might capture his first PGA Tour title. He played with composure and consistency, matching Thomas shot for shot. But in the playoff, Thomas showed his championship pedigree.
This win could be a turning point for Thomas who was once a mainstay in top-10 finishes. Sunday’s performance not only quieted doubters but may also reignite his confidence heading into the heart of the season.
As the PGA Tour heads into a packed summer schedule, including the PGA Championship and U.S. Open, all eyes will be back on Justin Thomas—and with good reason.
