Kevin Durant has seen Trae Young up close, and he likes what the Wizards are about to experience with his addition.
After Washington’s game against the Houston Rockets, Durant spoke on Young’s anticipated Thursday debut, offering a glowing assessment of what the dynamic point guard brings to a team still finding its identity.
“He’s just a dynamic guy that can create for everybody else, score for himself,” Durant said. “He’s just going to make the game easier for everybody else on the floor.”
Durant emphasized that Young’s presence solves a real structural problem for the Wizards, who have been running point guard by committee without a true floor general.
“With him out there, it’ll ease everybody’s mind and their game and they can just settle into their roles,” he said.
Durant also expressed enthusiasm for Anthony Davis suiting up for his hometown, adding, “I’m excited for the hometown team. Excited for AD to put the jersey on too and represent the city. I see bright things in their future.”
And the goodwill didn’t stop at words. Durant was spotted after the game coaching up young wing Kyshawn George on the sideline, a moment that quickly made its way across social media and had Wizards fans buzzing.
Kevin Durant told me after the game “I see bright things in their future” when referring to what the Wizards are building. This gesture shows that he clearly believes in the young talent they have. #ForTheDistrict https://t.co/Gv17uLEuXP
